Welcome to the Dunvegan Medical Practice website.
Coronavirus Covid 19
The Dunvegan Medical Practice is approaching the end of our involvement with the current Covid vaccination campaign having administered over 2000 doses of vaccine over the past few months. Any patients still to be vaccinated, including the majority of patients under 50 years of age will be offered their vaccine by NHS Highland and will be invited by letter to attend for their vaccine in Portree.
Eligible patients in this JCVI Group registered with the Dunvegan Medical Practice will receive a letter from the NHS with their scheduled appointment time in due course.
We would ask that you turn up at the specified venue as close to your appointment time as possible, in order for us to adhere to the social distancing guidance.
Please do not call your surgery to enquire about timescales for these appointments, as your surgery will not have this information. Contact details for any queries will be included in your appointment letter.
Proof of Vaccination (Vaccine Passports)
The Scottish Government has commissioned a Vaccine Status app which will give individuals easy access to their vaccination status. In the mean-time, a new, online facility to allow people to download their Covid vaccine status has been launched. The service may be initially accessed by telephoning.
0808 196 8565
Individuals calling this number to obtain their vaccination status will need to know the date of their first Covid vaccine in order to apply - they will then be issued with a username to allow them to register for and download their vaccination status from here;
Please note that the Dunvegan Medical Practice has no means to access either a patient's Vaccine Status Username, nor their Vaccine Status Serial Number (as issued in the blue letters issued to patients being invited to NHS - not Medical Practice - run clinics). Please do not call us to ask for this information as we can only direct you to the number above. Responsibility for proof of vaccination rests with the Scottish Government and not general Practice - thankyou.
Please also note that the new system may take some days to be updated and show a patient's full vaccine history after receiving a dose of the vaccine
Please DO NOT come to the Dunvegan Health Centre if you have any flu like symptoms, including a sore throat, cough or high temperature.
Instead telephone NHS24 on ' 1 1 1'

Due to significantly increased workload we are asking patients requesting issues of repeat medication to allow THREE FULL WORKING DAYS before calling to collect their medication.
The Dunvegan Medical Practice is based in the village of Dunvegan in the north west of the Isle of Skye. We have a patient list size of approximately 1750 patients and cover an area of around 130 square miles, our Practice boundaries being Struan to the south and Kildonan to the north. We are based in a modern, purpose built health centre which we share with Community Nursing and Dental teams.
We are a Dispensing Practice and provide a medicine dispensing service to all registered patients (all medicines are provided on prescription for which patients must see a GP - we are not permitted to sell 'over the counter' medicines).
The Practice is open between 08:00 & 18:00 Monday to Friday. Outwith these hours clinical care and advice is provided by NHS24 (Telephone '111') or, in the event of a serious medical emergency, the Emergency Services on '999'.
All consultations with a GP or Practice Nurse are by prior appointment only and any requests for emergency appointments or home visits will be triaged by a GP.
